Setting up Shipwire accounts

Shipwire has two servers, Production and Test, which are used for real transactions or testing respectively. Each server requires an account to be created to use it. If you wish to test the Shipwire integration, which is recommened, then you should create both accounts.

Production server - For real transactions<

  • Browse to the Shipwire live server sign up page< and enter your information for all the fields then click the 'Sign up now' button. If you don't know the number of orders and products just select 'Not sure' from the lists.
  • Verify the account by checking your email account and looking for an email from Shipwire. Click the link in the email to confirm the account.
  • Navigate to the Shipwire merchant control panel at https://app.shipwire.com/merchants/<
  • You may need to login with email and password set earlier.

Create an API account<

For added security it is highly recommended to use a separate API account for all site communications. The API account does not have permission to log in to the Shipwire site and change important settings.

  • Once logged in navigate to 'My Account' on the top menu and then 'Account Setup' in the left menu. Then click the 'edit' link next to 'Other account access' in the main window.
  • Click 'add new' at the bottom of the page.
  • Enter your current password again.
  • Select 'API' from the 'Account Type' drop-down list and click 'Next'
  • Enter a new email address and new password that are both different from your main account info and click 'Save'
  • The API account info just entered will be the info used in the Drupal module.

Test server - For testing your site setup<

  • Browse to the Beta site sign-up page< and enter your information for all the fields then click the 'Sign up now' button. Only the email address needs to be real and it is recommended to use a different email address and password than the ones used on the production server.
  • Verify the account by checking your email account and looking for an email from Shipwire. Click the link in the email to confirm the account.
  • The testing server does not incur any real charges so an API account does not need to be created. Use the email and password for the main account in the Drupal module.
